fathom is used.(6 feet) but usually feet is used in movies when showing a diving submarine or other deep sea adventures.

All nautical charts produced by Hydrographic Offices worldwide (except for those produced by the U.S. Hydrographic Office, which uses feet) indicate depths in metres. The fathom is now mainly of historical interest and hasnt being used professionally in years.

Most maps list soundings in fathoms, which is 6 feet.
