When I turn on my computer it just stays at the very first screen. Its the initial startup screen thats blue and has the HP logo on it and at the bottom it says Esc - setup, F1- boot menu, etc. It just stays there and doesnt continue booting to Windows or anything. Also the keyboard doesnt seem to work because I've been trying to get it into safe mode or the boot menu and its not responding. HP told me the motherboard might be out. Any other ideas?

the next step is to try another keyboard and reboot. try pressing F1 to access the Boot Menu. if you have the same problem, then yes, the bios on the motherboard is shot or the board itself is shot. from the looks of it, its a blue screen with the HP logo. so thats probably an old computer.

the only other thing i can think of is "trying" to re-install windows. but that most likely wont work either.

I used to have self belief it was the instantaneous modem I had. on account that, there may well be circumstances after i does no longer be geared up to do any element on line, and the shortcut on my computing device might say i've got an passable Connection. actually, what it meant was, i've got a high quality connection to my instantaneous modem and the bars, interior the instantaneous community Connection field, may well be all finished and green! The instantaneous demonstrate application might say "you're connect with the modem, in spite of the undeniable fact that now no longer on the subject of internet" or regardless of like that. it relatively is got here approximately to me so many times, i do no longer think of which you will evade it. It constantly comes lower back. there's a remarkable threat, it relatively is no longer your computers. circulate confirm!

Take the keyboard to another computer and check it. If it is working properly open the cover to your computer and remove the battery. Leave it out for a few minutes and then reinstall. If this problem persists then the board is probably bad.

It sounds like the key board is causing that not the mother board.

That's probably it.
If you have windows try contacting them and tell them what HP said, they should clear it up for you.
