I'm having a real hard time understanding what thing you're talking about.

This is a time-sensitive phrase. Every occurrence, whether written or spoken, reflects a "real thing" that is even more real... You got me?

So, is the real thing better than the real thing? Absolutely. You could write a labyrinthine sentence with dozens (hell, even an infinite string) of "real things," and the "real thing" that was put on top (i.e.; mentioned first) will always be more real.

Thanks for asking this question -- on the surface it doesn't look like it's got much substance, but it's really a fantastic probing tool for learning how grammar and the inner workings of the mind reflect each other in a continuous feedback loop.

what make you think that the real thing is better than the real thing when the real thing might just be the real thing.. if the real thing is better than the real thing, then it might not be the real thing in the first place!!! and by the way how do you define the real thing and how to guage if the real thing is better than the real thing??
i really don't know what i'm talking about simply because i really don't know what are you really trying to find out?? if you really think i'm talking crap.. maybe it's because i'm answering a crappy question???

You'd have to ask Bono.

Of course, in his song, he found someone who was simultaneously "the real thing" and "even better than the real thing." Figure that one out.

Whatever he's got. I want some of it!

Sometimes. It really all depends on if the green squirrel is in the willow tree. But it wouldn't count if there was a purple box within a mile of the willow tree.

The real thing is not better, because the real thing is the real thing and they equal each other; they balance each other out.

The deeper reality is more of permanence, and so gets a priority over the real thing.

Yes, if by the first "real thing" you mean "U2 before 1986" and by the latter you men "U2 since 1990."

You needs to clarify that question to get a real answer to it. I will default to NO for now.
