If you ask someone from each country in the world, you are going to get probably as many opinions as there are countries.. All different. And it depends on who you talk to.
You ask a starving Ethiopian what the ultimate goal is and I would guess he would say something to eat.
You ask a priest, and well, you know where he is going.
You ask a wall street broker, and he is going to spout all kinds of financial speculation.
The technical side of it, though, is exciting to think about when you consider all the advances we have made in, gee whiz, just 5 years.
Just think what it will be like in another 50 years.
Things we think are innovative now will fall by the wayside just like the hoola hoop and the Tandy computer.
So it won't be all gloom and doom, if we can ever quit fighting wars and get world harmony for once.
I think it just depends on who and where you are as to how you consider something like the ultimate goal of humanity.

Pessimistic answer ahead:
The way I see it, there is no point to humanity, just as there is no point to life. All every sort of life form does is consume, reproduce, and die. I am uncertain as to how life was formed, but the universe could do just as well without it. When it is time for humanity to finally die out, the order of the universe will continue as planned, and everything we have accomplished will be worth nothing.
That is how it is, unless we continue to play god and wipe out the universe or just our planet. Then that will be our goal.

Humanitywise, i think of of perhaps a number of George W timber suggestions- can we advance technologies to be sure us by way of our problems like climate substitute and capacity disaster . i think we ought to advance safer nuclear capacity and gm flowers to help our increasing nutrition standards interior the international. I do have faith we are heading in direction of extinction if we don't grasp the earth with technologies to undo what we've executed so some distance.

Seriously? I'm afraid to ask. I think it's just to survive and reproduce as long as possible until we either run out of natural resources or wipe ourselves out. My mom says all our history has been a race to find someplace new to go before we render our current home uninhabitable, and now we have to start looking for a whole new planet.

Given the past track record it is to subdue and dominate all life on this planet. Either that or it is to kill off humanity.
