i don't remember who, maybe Cybal, but one of the major godesses got mad at Arachnid for spinning beutiful weavings on her loom (she was also a hotty). Cybal got mad and made her an ugly spider and condemed her to weave webs forever.

Arachne was a young woman that was an excellent weaver. She boasted that she could do better work even than Athena, the goddess of handicrafts (& wisdom, & hunting, etc.) Athena heard of this, and was offended. She paid Arachne a visit, and when the girl would not stop bragging about her skill, the goddess turned her into a spider, so she could spend all her time spinning.

Well there is a greek myth that Arachnea boasted about her weaving abbilities so Athena challlenged her to a contest but Arachnea one so Athena got pissed and turned her into a spider.
