It will work fine without carbon dioxide which is produced by humans breathing out. A gas heater will produce carbon monoxide which is fatal to air breathing mammals. A good source for information is www.williamsfurnace.com they are a large mfg of gas wall furnaces, some are not vented. Hope this helps

It must be an electric heater. A properly adjusted gas heater would produce carbon dioxide and <20ppm carbon monoxide. The CO would still have to exhausted to the outside of the home.

I think steve is um, interesting! non-vented gas heaters are not new, ask anybody over fifty, they will remember them growing up. They are area, or room heaters, so carbon dioxide is deluted by the surrounding air, open the door and it is gone, or almost

It sounds as if it is an electric heater.
They don't need to be vented.
If it was a gas furnace there would be a gas line running to it.
You would see a black pipe connected to the furnace.

Must be electric, and you will need to change the filter from time to time. I have yet to hear of a ventless gas system.
