They suggested I put cereal in my sons formula around that age and it constipated him as well and made him very uncomfortable. I called my doc and he said to give him four ounces of juice (2oz juice diluted by 2oz of water) a day until he started having regular bowel movements. Apple and Pear are the best but you might want to ok it with your doctor first

I wouldn't use the rice if I were you. Maya was diagnosed with reflux, but she quickly grew out of it (by 4 or 5 months). She spit up all the time and would scream bloody murder. It was terrible.
She didn't go on medication, but it is an option. Too much rice cereal at this age can make matters worse by causing dehydration or malnutrition, so I wouldn't use it till at least 4 months. That is what my ped told me, and it makes sense.
If she is severely constipated right now, then give her maybe 2 ounces of water in between her feedings this evening. I would do that before trying juice since juice could give her diarrhea and actually make her more dehydrated.
Also, with the reflux, try burping her by laying her over your lap instead of over your shoulder. And make sure and burp her 3 or 4 times during each feeding. Also, do not allow her to eat too fast. Try giving her a couple of ounces every hour, this worked with Maya. She was breast feeding, but we did really short feedings, then fed her again an hour or so later. It pretty much stopped the projectile vomiting and she seemed much happier. It did extend the lack of sleep period though.
Also, we let Maya sleep in her car seat so she was inclined. I learned that trick working in a nursing home where we had patients with acid reflux sleep elevated.

I belong to a support group where a lot of the babies/children have reflux b/c they are preemies (but I know full term babies suffer from this too). In the four years I've known most of them; I don't recall them being told to use cereal at all; especially at this VERY young age.
My suggestion would be to get to a Pediatric GI specialist if the diagnosis did not come from one. If it did; I'd call him and tell him about the constipation and ask him what to do.
Most everyone I know had their children on Reglan; b/c it actually helps heal the esophagus. They were also on something like Zantac or Previcid to reduce the pain; those meds however, won't heal anything; just eases the symptoms.
I hope your daughter feels better soon. Luckily, GERD is usually outgrown; but it's so awful to see your child suffer. My heart goes out to you.

All three of my kids had this and it is VERY common in babies of any age. Most babies, however, are misdiagnosed and told it is colic when it is indeed GERD. Most doctors do not want to mess with it so they just say colic and that's it. Putting rice in the bottle is okay as long as it's not a lot just enough so it will stick to the ribs and help the baby keep it down. All of my were also prescribed Zantac which helped tremendously. DO NOT give your baby gas drops if he/she has GERD or colic. Colic is just a baby with a lot of gas so if you give a baby with gas those drops it will make him/her even more uncomfortable and since GERD already makes a baby fussy because of the burning in the throat you don't want to make him/her even more fussy by giving them gas pains.

Bigotry, plain and simple. "not antisemitic or anything" but would rather die than marry one of "those people". What an @s$. It IS antisemitic, and sending messages to your future son in law or his parents can be construed as harassment, and by using a phone you are actually committing a crime. I suggest that you grow up and leave your daughter alone. She is happy, and you should embrace the source of the happiness, not push it away. If this is not possible for you then I suggest you invent a time machine and return to late 1930's Germany, or go to Palestine or something.

When my son was three months old he was diagnosed with the same thing. We same a gastrointerologist and he had us change his formula to Nutramigen, its hypoallergenic, and he put him on a Zantac regiment that we supplemented with Maalox when it got really bad. By the time my son was nine months old we were weaning him off the medication. He is 15 months old now and he has out grown it. I know how hard it is but try to get a better treatment plan it really helps.

Both of my kids had grade 3/4 reflux, and Prevacid was a lifesaver. They still cried. We still had to do all sorts of postural things, like having them sleep in their car seats, etc, and burping them all the time. And they still barfed constantly. But at least they didn't cry non-stop, 14 hours a day, every day like they did before we started Prevacid...
Rice cereal is a no-no. (I know your pediatrician said to do it, but this is why most doctors say you shouldn't...)

get a second opinion on treatment and diagnosis. 2 months old is too young for children to have rice cereal. and you should never put it in the bottle, they can choke. call your babys doc and ask him what to do for continued constipation and gas pain. until then go back to just formula or breast milk. water, warm baths, and back rubs may help with the pain and constipation. poor baby :( have a good night, good luck.
