I've dissected a frog and a cat. The frog was really easy... at first it was all eww disgusting... frogs... but I got over it and ended up actually cutting the frogs eyes out just to see what was inside the eyeball. It was weird.. it was like a marble inside.

The cat was more like oh poor kitty :( The cats we got still had the fur so we had to skin them which was really HARD. They have very thick skin actually. By the time I finished doing what I was supposed to do, I decided to cut open its intestines and I found out how it died.... apparently she (it was a female cat) ate a trash bag....

I am a HUGE cat lover. When I was in nursing school, we had to dissect cats as part of our Anatomy Labs. The cats were obviously dead and had been skinned......but they hadn't been skinned from the neck up, so you could tell if it had been a black cat or white cat or whatever.

It was very sad to me, but I knew there was nothing I could do about it........so I just put it out of my mind and did my best......and in the 10 years since I've just been the best nurse I can be.

I actually had a cat at home at the time and I still have my same cat now that I had over 10 years when I was in nursing school. He's an orange cat named Morris. He's getting old, but he's like a member of my family. I wouldn't ever let him get dissected like that after he dies!

It was hard dissecting a cat in school, but I did it and now it's over.

I disected a frog back in seventh grade.
For me, the only thoughts going through my head were, "Oh my gosh. This is so totally awesome." I didn't have any problem at all.

But this does not necessarily apply to all people. For some people, dissecting an animal may be extremely difficult, while for others, it won't mean a thing.

I disected 2 fish and a squid in middle school. It was easy. Back then I thought it was cool and fun, especially to draw with the squid's ink sack. In high school I disected a grasshopper, cow's eye, and lamb's heart. The grasshopper was stinky, the cow's eye was cool but hard to cut, and the lamb's heart...oi, i couldn't eat roast beef for a couple of months cuz that's what it looked like. Then in college I disected a frog and it was really disgusting for me. I think the older I got the more squimmish I got the the yuck factor increased.

I've dissected a cows eye and a sheep's heart, the hard part is the build up to it because it's the fear of what your about to see. It's not hard if you follow instructions.

I did dissect various: a small shark, an eel, and some big worms. It was part of a zoology course. I liked studying their gross anatomy. No fear whatsoever.

I did in high school biology. It was difficult at first to get over the 'yuck' reflex, but after that it was really neat to see the inside of the bodies and look at the organs.

It was gross at first- i dissected a frog in 7th grade.
It smelled horrible, and there were little bugs in the stomach.
