I have played a lot of chess over they years and on average men are slightly better than women. However I do not believe it is a result of genetics. The social conditioning and gender role assumption that occurs in our society is primarily what is producing these differences in playing strength. Just like math chess is something girls are taught at an early age that they are inferior at. They subsequently do not pursue serious study of it because they believe it will be futile since they will never be able to compete at the same level as their superiors (men). However Judit Polgar's recent victory at the Essent Chess Tournament http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chess.pl?tid=54405&crosstable=1 perhaps will maybe help alleviate some of the prejudice girls face in chess. In addition chess, at least in America, is typically charecterized as a game for ugly losers and most girls shy away from it as a result.
It is also important to realize that there is a huge gulf between casual chess players and competetive chess players. Being a competetive chess player since I was a little kid I really cannot view the game through the eyes of those who view it as something like Monopoly or Yatzee. Im not trying to disparage casual players, just saying I really don't know much about that sort of competition. When I have played against casual playing girls and guys the girls always do better, but that is because my goals are different depending on the sex. When im playing a guy my purpose is to show him how great I am. My only goal with a girl is to somehow turn the game into something playful and flirty. Therefore checkmating her in five moves isnt a good idea (no irony intended).

This simply means she can't take you beyond the basics of english riding. If you have never had much riding experience before, this is a good place to start. You must be a proficient rider to be able to move on to jumping, you don't just start there. If you have been riding for several months or years and have a secure seat and basic knowledge of care and riding, then you need a more specialized or intermediate instructor. Beginner english is only on the flat, tacking up, over ground poles, and basic riding position and control through the gaits. Beyond that, you need a more advanced teacher or some one specialized in jumpers. If you are asking this question, I"d say you need those beginner lessons for a while before moving up to jumping, you don't just start out jumping.

Except at the very highest levels of the game, there is no difference. However, a woman has never played for the overall world's championship, amd it is extremely rare for a woman to win or finish well in a qualifier for the championship.
At the social, club or high school levels, there is no discernable difference.

They both good if they play. Those that Bragg are usually not good, it a game of respect I feel, win or lose. When I played I was good, not now, won a few local championships at College and I lost many times to women!
