I will help you with one. All of these are similar problems and the same logic will apply to all of them.
1. (a - 6) divided by 5 = 7/12 what is a?
A-6
------ = 7/12
5
Your goal is to isolate A on the left side and all else on the right.
First, remove the 5 by mutiplying both sides by 5
A-6 = 5 * 7/12
A-6 = 35/12
Now, move -6 (notice the minus sign) to right of the equal sign
A= 35/12 + 6
That means A = 35/12 + 72/12 = 107/12
A=107/12

a-6 = 5x7 /12
a = 6+ 35/12
a = 6+ 2 11/12
a = 8 11/12
2.
8/(b+10) = 4/ (2b-7)
16b - 56 = 4b +40
12b = 96
b = 8

All of these are fractional equasions where you have to cross multiply and divide -- let's do number 1.
(a-6)..7
____= __
5.......12
to solve for (a) "cross multiply." that means take the denominator from the first side (the bottom number, or 5) and multiply it by the numerator from the other side of the equals sign (the 7). and then you multiply the numerator on the first side by the denominator on the right side...
So you get
7*5 = 12*(a-6)
So simplify---
35 = 12*a -72
We can add 72 to both sides to "cancel out" the -72, we get,
107 = 12*a.
To get "a" by itself, we'll divide both sides by 12
a = 107/12, or 8 11/12.
All of your problems are the same way -- cross multiply to get rid of the "divided by" section and then simplify.
That's the idea... do the rest! Some of the problems may take two steps!
Good luck

(1)a-6/5 = 7/12
12(a-6) =5 (7 )
12a-72 = 35
12a = 35+72
12a=107
a=107/12
a=8.92
(2)8 (2b-7 )= 4 (b+10 )
16b-56 = 4b+ 40
16b-4b = 40+56
12b = 96
b= 96/12
b= 8

2. 8 divided by (b + 10) = 4 divided by (2b - 7) what is b? show as much work as possible please!!
Cross multiply to get 8(2b - 7 ) = 4(b + 10)
16b - 56 = 4b + 40
add 56 to both sides, subtract 4b from both to get 12b = 96
divide by 12 to get answer
3. $3/lb = ?cents/oz
what is ? show as much work as possible please!!
($3/1 lb) times (100 cents/$1) times (1lb/16 oz)
this cancels out all the unwanted units
Good luck!
