I guess I would be shocked if I had never had an inkling that he was. After the shock I would feel sad because I think a gay person can get treated so badly by the prejudiced people of the world. Then when I got passed all that, I would tell him that I love him no matter what. You are still the kind, good person I have grown up with.
I believe no one chooses to be gay, it is something that goes wrong before they are born, they sure aren't responsible for that because its not a choice.

I have two gay uncles and plenty of gay friends.I am a strait married man who thinks what you do in your bedroom is your own bussiness and I dont think there is any thing to handle 17 or 57 years old.

I think that I would be kind of surprised depending on how well I knew the guy.... but he is family and being gay is not a really big deal either.....i know that im not but people who are gay cant help it and you shouldnt blame them for it.

I would be supportive and understanding and just be there for him. This is going to be one of the more difficult things he will go through in life, is gaining acceptance from family and friends for who he really is.

Your family member is the same person that they were before, you just know something about them that you didn't know before. He was comfortable enough to be honest with you, so you should respect his honesty and support him.

well it would sorta depend on who the person was...but if appropriate I would tell the person that I loved them still and that I supported them and their happiness...this person probably needs a lot of support right now...be there for him...He's not a different person..you just have additional knowledge now.

It wouldn't bother me at all. I wouldn't have much of a reaction, I would just be whatever makes you happy, is fine with me.

I am thinking that he showed some signs before this moment so i don't think i would be too shocked. I think it would be more like "I knew it." Do what you like but please don't kiss in front of me as i think this is gross. Would be my only comment.
