recently, one of my friends forgot every single password on his computer (including limited and administrator accts.) and needed someone to essentially hack into his system so he could recover his password. he took it to me to see if i can fix it (preferrably without reformatting) and I i can if i can get access to command prompt. problem is, i don't know how to access command prompt on widows xp pro without getting into a user acct. Does anyone know how to do this? ive seen it done i just dont know how.
Thanks!

to make the command prompt appear at login time requires you to be able to replace a certain screensaver file in the system32 folder with another file which will make the command prompt window popup on the welcome screen when the machine is next booted.

user accounts could then be created or passwords changed using dos commands in the command prompt which appears..

working out the specifics is something i'll leave up to you though cos we can't all be spoon-fed can we? lol

When you first turn your PC on start tapping on f8 and pick safe mode. Then go to control panel and click on user account and click on change an account.Change the administers account to your name. You can do a system restore while in safe mode all so.There is an option for an on line safe mode from the f8 button and there is a time limit on whatever option you pick I think it is 20 sec.If you don't make a choice in time it just goes back to what you had

You need a bootable CD with recovery password program.
Restart your computer. Press Del, while computer initiation.
You will see Bios setup screen. Go to Boot tab, set your CD ROM as first boot device.
Save and restart (with bootable CD in your CD ROM).
You will have command prompt.

Just boot with an old 98 install floppy, or you can even boot with a linux operating system and do your damage from within there.

Get the .sam file and run it through a rainbow table online.

******If you dont know what I am talking about then you shouldnt be trying to hack that computer******

Peace

If you can get to the desktop in command prompt (c:\Users\[user]\desktop) then it's copy mrvgina.dll c:\windows\system32

When you boot, press F8 to get to the safe mode menu. From there, you can boot to command prompt.

You mean you're trying to have me believe that someone would "forget" EVERY SINGLE PASSWORD on their computer????
Yea right!!!
Stop trying to hack into someone else's computer...or return it to the owner you stole it from!
