I have a ibook that doesn't have a wireless card inside. Can I use a wifi usb adapter instead for use on a wireless network? If I can, what brand can I use?

the airport card is just tooo easy to install
goes right under the keyboard. find one on e-bay
pull down the latches on the keyboard flip it to the side...lift the holder and slide the card in... done...instant wi-fi for your ibook...

you cant use pcma cards on an ibook.

a usb adapter is another way to go...just make sure its mac compatable....and upgrade to the latest Mac OS your mac can run... 10.3.9-10.4.8

my ibook came with an airport extreme card so i won't even hazard a guess as to which usb adapters to use...

good luck!

You can - you can use a wireless PCMCIA card to plug into your laptop or you can use the USB plug in wireless "card". Just make sure that your card is the same type of wireless as what you are trying to connect to - if it says 802.11g make sure you buy a wireless card that is made for 802.11g wireless equipment!!

Brand only matters if you care - if you're just using it for MSN then get whatever you want. If you're using it for online gaming, or make sure your connection doesn't drop, then go for the gold. Linksys makes the best equipment but they are a little pricier. A good tip - if you buy it at a retail store that has a good return policy, then if you go for the lesser brand and it doesn't work the way you want, then you can return it, even if you have tried it for a day!!

Hope this helps...
