I really don't trust any police officer who has a beer gut and is 50+ lbs overweight. I've watched cops and I've seen police around here - some are in good physical shape and others are complete blobs.

I just don't understand why people think it's all right for a police officer to be, for lack of a better term, fat. Can they jump over fences or run for a long distance better than someone who was fit? No..

I've heard that lately this PC thing doesn't only apply to law enforcement officers, but the military as well. Why don't they have strict physical fitness in place?

If someone is going to "protect and serve" us - why don't they become fit?? Why is our government allowing people to slack off like this?

** I have NOTHING against "overweight" people in general. But I do have a problem with those in authority to protect us who are incapable of doing the things a FIT person could do.

I agree. I thought police officers had to pass periodic fitness tests; if not, they certainly SHOULD have to. But....even though an officer might look like the proverbial "pig", don't be too quick to judge. I have seen what appear to be slovenly, overweight people move extremely fast and do extreme damage to others when the situation warrants it. Really.

Because political correctness is a sham.

It is selectively used as a tool to bludgeon people who do not fit a certain political mold.

Aparently the officers you are refering to are well connected.

BTW, The military DOES have strict fitness guidelines.
