The "average" newborn weighs 7 pounds. The "average" baby triples its birthweight by its first birthday. Therefore, the "average" one year old weighs 21 pounds.
But keep in mind - these are all "averages." It's perfectly normal for your baby to be under/over by several pounds.

I think its around 20 pounds but my son is almost 6 months and is a little under 20 pounds. I think its more based on how much they weighed at birth, like the others said. Mine was 9 pounds at birth and Im guessing he will be about 27-30 pounds by one. AHHH!

my daughter has just had her 1yr check. she was 1 last month.
she has come in at 2stone 2.1lbs, when she was born she was 9lb 12oz. she didn't loose any weight after birth either.
the health visitor has got me worried about her now and has said if her growth continues along this line, she has to see a pediatrician to make sure she hasnt got a problem with her growth hormones.
but all my family are over 6ft, yes I am fat now, but wasn't born fat and wasn't a fat child...
does she sound very heavy?

My baby is 13 months- at his yearly doctor appt. he weighed 26lbs and was 32 inches long- 95% for height and around 70th for weight.
He was also 9lbs 10oz at birth! lol

If I am not mistaken, the average 1year old will triple his/her birth weight.

my son is 13 months and he weighs 22 pounds, so I would say between 18-25 pounds....

anywhere from 16-28 pounds is a normal area.
