Here's what some folks on miningold.com said:
"From Rick A Loveless
There are gold occurrences in Macon, Adair, Livingston, Linn, Putman, Randolph and Schuyler counties. A result of glacial deposits. Fine gold and grain sized nuggets reported from Murry Gulch, northeast of Elmer and Sand Creek in Macon County. Pannable gold has been found all along the Chariton River and its tributaries in Macon, Adair and Schuyler counties. My very first attempt at recreational prospecting was a couple hours in a very small stream somewhere south of Elmer, got 6 or 7 specks of fine gold. More info can be had by calling Ceder Creek Ranger District Route 4 Box 4023 Fulton MO 65251, (314) 642-6726
From Jordan M. Humphreys
I have found very fine glacial gold in Sand Creek just NE of Elmer, MO.; in the Salt River north of Mexico, Missouri; and in Cedar Creek just east of Englewood, Missouri.
I'm fairly certain most creeks and rivers in North Central Missouri carry some gold. Its all just specks and in small quantities...but it sure is pretty in your pan!"
Thanks for asking this question -- I've lived in Missouri all my life, and went to college in Adair County and had never heard of this (not even while slinging beers at a townie bar in Kirksville during my senior year!)

probably not, and if there were, they'd all be gone by now.
