I was watching a 60 minutes about how teenagers were going "bumhunting" and beating, setting fire to, and killing homeless people. I know Bumfights was a major influence, but what can make somebody take a 2 by 4 with a nail through it and smack a homeless man on the head? It used to be blacks, women, homosexuals, now the homeless? Ridiculous. What is wrong with America?

It's human nature to prey on the weak when the weak are unknown to them. That's an unfortunate truth, and these people are only letting the world hear about the worst of their actions! But I also blame our media.....what about the great goodness of our society? What other society would try and right the wrongs of history? Has Europe tried to right the wrongs of the Colonial period? Have the Arab countries tried to right the wrongs of the slave trade? Have the Christian churches tried to right the wrongs inflicted on indigenous peoples? None of these things are asked of other societies so why do we beat ourselves so much? We can't change history, we can only live in the now and try to construct a better future and we start by making people who prey on others accountable for what they do. How to do this, I don't know but we have to try somehow to be more responsible for ourselves and what we do for and to others.

They have the kids then don't want to invest the time to bring the child up with morals because THEY don't really have any. They are also busy working and socializing and the kids are then handed over to the grandparents, friends ect whoever happens to be available to watch them while Mom is away. ANd when she is around she doesn't take the time to spend with the kid. I see this all the time here. Young kids running around any time of the day, unsupervised, dirty, using language I don't hear many grownups using and being destructive. ANd the mother doesn't care. It's almost as if well, the kid is here so I'm just going to put the time in until it's 18.and can leave..........the fathers aren't around much if at all. I think these kids are "acting out" their frustrations. They need more or even any discipline and rules. Instead they are allowed to run wild. Does any of this behavior surprise anyone? They do these things because they have no conscience. And that's because no one wants to put the time in to teach them right from wrong. The adults in these kids lives are as much to blame as the kids.

I agree with you, it is ridiculous. I didn't watch the 60 minutes special, but I hope they addressed that the reason so many homeless people are homeless is because they have a mental disability. They don't deserve to be beaten or tortured that way! We live in an angry world...i guess that is why these people who are hurting them are using the homeless as a way to get their anger out, which is sad.

I really wish I knew what was wrong with some people. As if the homeless didn't have enough problems. I saw this on 60 minutes too and it disgusted me!

Corruption. In general we've gone past the grey areas, desensitized our consciences, left all moral values behind, and find violence to be less entertaining as it once was. It's like a drug, you need more of it to make it fun or effective. What's even more sad though is the end result, a few years in prison for killing someone. the whole world is lying in the power of the the wicked one.

Deliberate stupidity and a total lack of respect in the cases you are talking about.

These kids weren't raised right at all. It's because they've taken parental rights away and brainwashed parents into thinking the can't discipline their kids to give them the lesson of RESPECT...the single most important lesson of life in general.

Wow you've really seen that? I never knew........
I think it's because teenagers are still in their impressionable age and they probably were exposed to violence early on in their lives.
Their parents, peers could have taken a part to incite this violence.
Why in particular homeless people, i'm not too sure....
I'm guessing that they're weaker and easier to bully.
Not able to stand up for themselves.
I truly hope this gets resolved.

Because taking advantage of the less fortunate or less strong is much more SAFER and takes no courage. In essences, these are cowards finding people they can safely bash without repercussion. You won't see them in a Hells Angel's bar picking a fight, only on the downtrodden and lonely.

COWARDLY IS WHAT ITS ABOUT!

Poor gene pools, everyone lives with modern medical cures, and it takes about an act of GOD to get someone arrested and convicted. Day in, hours out.
