I was just reading the box score of the wings-flames game, and it said that mccarty and maltby had roughing minors against each other. Is that true? cuz when they played for the wings, they were like BEST buds, playing on the same line for years. If anyone saw the game, can you describe what happened? Was it like anger roughing or just for fun roughing? I'm just WAY too curious about this

They interviewed McCarty between periods and he said before the game he talked to his friends on the Wings, joked with them, had a good visit but the second he steps on the ice they are no longer his friends. They are the opposition. It was not fun roughing.

these two players are best friends off-ice. the players are enemies on the ice. the friendship off-ice should not be affected by the roughing on ice. most of the players on many of the teams are friends off-ice. to answer your question roughing between two players that are friends off-ice is part of the game. it was just a little scrap. it meant nothing to either player.

i didnt see the game but hockey has become so wussified that looking at each other wrong gives you roughing. i remember when it wasnt a game until both goalies squared off at center ice.
