If the doors and frames have been previously painted then you do not need to use a primer (undercoat). Use 180 grit sandpaper to make a dulled appearance ,wipe off dust with a tack cloth,wipe surface again with lint free rag dampened with water. Let dry , then apply 2 top coats of the paint you are using (use a semi gloss).If the doors and frames are bare than you should use two primer coats followed with two top coats.
