I was a para for 20 years in the school district, then 18 years into it I decided to go to school and become a teacher myself. Long range plan is to pursue a Master's in library media. Working with kids is about as close to heaven as you can get on Earth. Love it.

Don't worry about not being so great in math right now. Sometimes it will just "click" later! I stunk in math in hs, and believed it when i was told I couldn't do what I wanted to do in life. Many years later, math is just fine. Go for what your passions are and what gives you joy and fulfillment. Everything else is just frosting.

I graduated from college in 1982 with a BS and a degree in Early Elementary Education. I was married and had 2 children when I graduated. After graduation, by choice I was a stay-at-home mom, which I loved, then I began doing home daycare. I have provided daycare in my home for 20 years. I love my job. My advice is do what makes you happy. Take advantage of being young and having your whole life ahead of you. Try whatever interests you and do not be down on yourself or discouraged if what you try first just doesn't seem right.
