To those that say the ACLU is anti-Christian... would you also agree that it is anti-religion or just anti-Christian? Thanks!

They are like constitutional police, and like the saying goes "you will hate them until you need them."

It is unfortunate, our ACLU has a definite case of tunnel vision. The term ACLU brings to mind ALL civil liberties, not just the ones they focus on.... ever see an ACLU case regarding the 2nd amendment? Where was the ACLU at Waco?, Weavers ranch?

Folllow the money trail, they side with the big publishers with deep pockets

They are one of the few truly courageous organizations there are.

They often find themselves in the awkward position of defending unpopular, and in some cases reprehensible people (like the KKK) precisely because the popular causes don't need defending. And despite the fact that they know they will get vilified for defending scum-of-the-earth, they do it anyway. Why? Because for them, civil liberties are *absolute*. Freedom from persecution or prosecution without representation is *absolute*. Free speech is *absolute*. It doesn't matter what you are saying ... if you are only talking, then your right to say it is *absolute*. I don't always agree ... but they are rock-solid consistent in their convictions. It is a bit extremist ... but it is extremism about a fundamentally American cause: Freedom.

The ACLU is the embodiment of what America *should* be about ... valuing Freedom over anything else ... *anything* else.

The ACLU I believe is a refuse for people without a strong voice and little money, they have some good and some bad decisions, everyone use them for what they need, then criticize them when they don't need them. The ACLU represent the Good, Bad and Ugly among US. So for that I support them.

The ACLU has been smeared as a anti-conservative civil liberties group, but in fact, it has defended lots of people on the right - including Nazis and KKK members.

It is an impartial watchdog that has done an enormous service to the nation and defended our right to free speech - a battle that is sadly being lost today thanks to the Patriot Act, security cameras, radio frequency tracking tags, Christian fundamentalist harassement, etc.

People who reflexively hate the ACLU also hate free speech.

Oh, do you mean the "Anti-Christian League?" I think the ACLU has done more damage to the rights of Americans than any other organization in history.

I'm always amused by people thinking that the ACLU is a detriment to America. Their mission is to protect the Bill of Rights, period. They are not partisan, although people who disagree with the people they defend think they are.

The ACLU is supported by annual dues and contributions from its members, plus grants from private foundations and individuals. They do not receive any government funding.

The ACLU HATES Christianity and they do whatever they can to destroy the Christian Foundations the United States of America was founded on.

I generally feel that it's a bad organization. Sure we need someone or some group to make sure our civil liberties aren't destroyed, but with them wanting to take Christ out of Christmas, the Skokie Incident, and stuff like that, I'd like to tell them to get their head out of their a$$ and breathe the fresh air of common sense and reality.

its ashame, that in todays times, we need an organization like the ACLU. Its ashame that we as a people have not learned to put aside our hatred, our bigotry of people who are different than we are. Simple differences such as color of skin, or religious or political beliefs. Its a shame that such an organization is still needed.

They are not representing my interests. When the AMERICAN Civil Liberties Union does everything they can to support illegal immigrants into this country I have a problem with the organization.

Legal immigration into the United States of America is fine, illegal is not.
