I have no heat/ac in my monte. When i turn it on i hear a venting sound but nothing happens. I attempted to check the fuse but the fuse box is just a complete mess of wires. While i was down there I noticed a diagnostic connector. Would this be able to tell me the problem, and where should i take it to be read?

I don,t know what,s wrong with your heat/AC but that connector is a diagnostic connector but not for your heater/AC, it is for engine diagnostics.

The noise you hear is probably the vacuum actuator for one of the heater doors. Find your heater motor under the hood. it should have a large purple wire going to it, and a black wire going to one of the bolts on the motor housing. disconnect the purple wire and momentarily run a wire directly from the battery to the motor connector. If the motor runs look for a bad fuse or blower resistor.( you may have a HIGH SPEED relay and a circuit breaker for the Heater + a fuse) Buy a Haynes manual for your car at Auto zone or Advance Auto. It has the wiring diagrams in it.

that diagnostic connector more than likely wont tell you your proble the venting sound you here could be a vacum actuator switching positions from defrost to the floor and to the vents. it sounds like your blower motor isn't coming on. could be bad blower (fan) motor, fan switch, fuse, or wiring. to test the blower motor find the two wires coming from the back of the blower (fan) motor and run wires from that straight to the battery. if the fan is still good you should here it come on.the fan will work both ways so dont be scared to hook it up backwards, but it will only blow the air one way. if it does work then you know its one of the other three things. if you dont want to spend a lot of money to fix it you could just run the wires from the fan then under the dash to a toggle switch and to the battery.

the only problem i might have is the shortcoming of capacity. The inventory Monte's got here with a gutless 305. A overall performance chip helped, yet they nevertheless mandatory a 350 to truly run. I owned a '86 SS for 12 years, then it replaced into stolen.

well if the wires are a mess your diagnostic port might be of no use, take it to any auto parts store and they should hook it up and check for you for free usually.

well you dont need to take it to get checked ,its not a fuse cuz if it was it wouldnt even blow , its either your compressor or your heating coil is bad.
