I'm 14 weeks pregnant with twins and I have a sinus infection. I went to my regular dr today (not my ob dr) and he told me to take amoxicillin for 5 days to clear up the infection. I told him I was pregnant and he said that it's ok to take penicillin products during pregnancy. I'd heard and read that it's not ok. Does anyone have any personal experience or knowledge about this???

I took it just about 3 weeks ago for that exact same thing I was told by my OBGYN and an ER doctor its ok to take. I was completley miserable and I still think I have one my head pounds and my face hurts. TAKE IT and dont worry so much as long as OBGYN SAYS SO.

Yeah I took that 2 times during my 3rd pregnancy because of an infected tooth. I took it in the first trimester and in the third. My son is fine and perfectly healthy. Didnt hurt anything. Its safe.

its rated a C category on the dispencing list. that means only to be given when the needed during pregnancy. Go ahead and take it but for future follow up with your OB as they specialize in babys and know more about drugs ok during pregnancy.

I believe its ok to take amoxicillin- I had 3 bladder infections with my last pregnancy and i had to take it to get better - my son turned out fine

I also was sick with a chest infection during my pregnancy (8th month) and my gyno prescribed me the same thing. It's ok.

My best friend actually took amoxicillin while she was pregnant and her son is fine.

i have chronic ear infections and have taken antibiotics 3 times already this pregnancy.my ob prescribed them so im sure theyre fine

thats so odd! i specifically asked about taking amoxicillan for my tonsilitis and im 11 wekks pregnant. my doctor said to take vitamin c and echinacae and it will clear up on its own because its not safe.

i took it while i was pregnant with my daughter for my sinuses. i was 8 months along and she is the brightest kid in her kindergarten class.
