PLEASE talk to your doctor ASAP or contact the hospital, for advice, while it maybe normal to feel a little weird when starting a new medication, it is not normal to feel faint, tingly, heavy chested and wanting to or falling into a deep sleep.
Atenolol may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
dizziness
lightheadedness
tiredness
drowsiness
depression
upset stomach
diarrhea
Some side effects can be serious. The following symptoms are uncommon, but if you experience any of them, call your doctor immediately:
shortness of breath
swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
unusual weight gain
fainting
I don't wish to alarm you but I has a similar experience with another drug, and at the time I had no idea that I had a major allergic reaction, all similar to the symptoms you have described. I eventually passed out, (no one could wake me, and I was barely breathing) in the middle of my 40th birthday party (not one drop of alcohol, passed my lips). But I seriously did not think it was all that serious until, I spoke to my doctor the next day.
So do speak to some one sooner rather than later.

You need to try taking the Atenolol at night. If the symptoms continue after a week, call the doctor. Your dose may need to be lowered. The smallest dose prescribed is 25mg and the highest is 200mg. At 25mg it is used more to slow the heart rate, prevent chest pain, and prevent the heart from working too hard. At 200mg it is used to treat blood pressure. I know a doctor who is quite high strung who takes 25mg when he has a big speech in front of a lot of people. 25mg can be used to help with anxiety sometimes, but it is not widely advertised as a medication for this.

I have been on Atenolol, this drug is now $4.00 at wal-mart,for two years. I had the tightness in the chest but it subsided after a few days. I still get tired from it but it's doing what it's supposed to do. As with any drug, if it causes too much discomfort, call your doctor. You can also call your pharmacist. They are always a big help! Check the info that came with the medication.

tingly? have you had a blood test for thyroid functioning and blood calcium levels?
as a rule, yes a lot of these are because your body is adjusting to the new medication but my best advice to you is to tell your doctor about your symptoms right away- you may be having an adverse reaction that is not normal- your doc may want to look at adjusting your dosage, all of that said I do know that beta blockers will make you tired and worn out

i don't know why you were prescribed atenolol, but it slows your heart rate and lowers your blood pressure. until your body adjust you will feel tired and worn out . just give it some time, if you still feel this way after about 3 weeks then see your doctor. if you have any more questions about atenolol you can e-mail me at halcry_4@yahoo.com

As lengthy as you smoke it carefully, I even have center palps and a quick center beat. Weed has in no way effected it, simply do not do the dull medicinal drugs like meth. But I'm no longer a health practitioner, you must fairly speak to any one who fairly is aware of their stuff. Hopefully any one can deliver you a extra informed reply. :)
