Vietnam war was a resource war. We wanted to control the tin, rubber, manganese , the still undeveloped off-shore oil and the largest rice growing region (Mekong Delta) in the world. We poisoned the Delta before we left with Agent Orange and today there are so many deformed births that they are just quietly put down. Vietnam war was a whore just like Iraq.

Hind-sight a mistake...I am a Vietnam Vet and have returned to HCMC three times...back then it was all about "ideology" now it's all about "economics". there is a KFC and Citibank on every corner!
Conclusion: I am Disabled and 58,000 dead for "0".
But I still consider John Kerry to be a traitor and and a Tin Soldier with Tim self bestowed medals and...a coward.

If any we we ever fought had a poor strategy going in, It would be the vietnam war! It was a terrible war. And a disaster. We could have won if we would have had a better plan going in.

58,000+ Americans died. Most of them were very young men who came from many rural communities, were fresh out of high school and never really saw much of life. It was a very difficult "war" that turned into a living nightmare. Many of those boys who came back alive, were actually dead inside from what they experienced. That is my generation. It saddens me how many still suffer from PTS from the war and have never recovered.
