It's a ridiculous notion in my opinion. Those on the left want out of Iraq, which people keep insisting on equating with terrorism, pure and simple. It isn't that simple. The terrorists weren't in Iraq before we went in, but they are there now thanks to George Bush. I think those on the left criticize, and rightly in my opinion, Bush for not concentrating on the terrorists fully before jumping into Iraq in the first place. Wanting out of Iraq does not mean anyone wants Islamic extremists to succeed. Staying there certainly isn't stopping them, the confusion and burgeoning civil war only gives them more room to dodge and hide. I don't know any American, far right or far left who sympathizes with terrorists. On 9/11 we weren't thinking about which political party we were affiliated with, we came together in horror and anger. Those feelings haven't changed, just the ideas on each side of the equation as to how to protect ourselves from them.
I think people on the far right who claim liberals like terrorists let their hatred take over their brains. Liberals may have different ideas about how to run things, but that doesn't make them sympathizers to those who wish Americans harm. Claiming it does is an insulting and unnecessary tactic.

When someone like Teddy Kennedy goes behind President Reagan's back to the Soviet Union to offer help getting better publicity for the S.U., then grudgingly has to admit that President Reagan ended the Cold War, I'd say that the potential for other politicians to aid our enemies in time of real war is at least conceivable.
There certainly are a number of them who don't hesitate to undermine our elected officials, spread unfounded rumors, and call them names. This is sedition. It may no longer illegal, but it's still sedition.
An amazing number of our politicians, both right and left, seem to have forgotten the difference between dissent/protest and sedition.
I haven't. I hope you haven't, either.
