I believe it's a choice that could appropriately be made by the suffering individual himself, if his suffering does not interfere with his ability to make a voluntary choice, but not one that could appropriately be made for the suffering individual by someone else.

If the suffering individual is not capable of making a voluntary choice, then a different question is presented -- one that involves attempting to determine whether the suffering individual prepared a living will or did something else while still competent that enabled someone else to communicate the suffering individual's wishes under the circumstances then presented.

Yes, we do it for animals so they don't suffer. Animals have souls, too. Its the most humane thing we can do. The point must be that this person has no chance of recovery from a devasting condition.

That is a very hard question to answer, it's something that in my opinion could not be answered unless I was put in that situation. I could not imagine having to live a life of nothing but misery in all reality I think that having that choice should be a option.
