Do you mean an actual herp society? Basically try to contact as many people near you who may be interested as you can... Start out small. I'm in a small herp society affiliated with the University I attend, and we've done a lot of talks and educational shows etc... You may be able to find one already in existance near you, or you could contact other societies and ask for advice on how to start up your own.

Well, basically decide the size you are planning to start (such as a 60 gallon tank vs an entire room), visit your local exotic pet store and tell them your intentions and they will direct you to the animals that are compatible living together, basic heat needs, etc... good luck

There's a forum for people who own such repitles ask them. It's better than info from some book. Ask the people who maintain such a society.

If you are trying to organize a club for reptiles the best place to advertise with or announce your intentions would be with Kingsnake.com under the section titled clubs/organizations
