I would wonder what test was used, who was doing the testing, and why IQ is such a concern in the first place. I know Mensa members who possess an exceptionally high IQ that are non-productive members of society.
Any person (male or female) should not limit their potential in this world due to a number on a standardized test. These tests have limited scope, and are only useful and valid within that scope. Some educators have found them to be fairly indicative of future success in life, but again, we have to look at who is doing the research and what their criteria for success is.
Tests are simply a moment in time. There are always other moments.

I've read articles similar to these and still have problems with some of their conclusions. Intellect should be viewed in more than one or two dimensions, just as we ourselves are three dimensional and sometimes four dimensional beings so should total intellect be viewed. Taken in a multi-dimensional knowledge based total overview, I think that no one gender has an advantage, but rather each has strengths that can be pooled for the benefit of all. Simply put,men and women each have diverse strengths that when blended together make up for the weaknesses in each other.

It depends on what type of intelligence is being measured. IQ tests generally measure rote memorization and the ability to use that intelligence in a functional way. Being female, I hate to say it, but it does seem that men have a knack of being able to understand the way things work. (i.e. the inner workings of cars, ability to construct things, ability to *de*construct things, and so on.)
If IQ tests measured the ability to multitask, women would come out on top. As a matter of fact, there was a study done of men and women in a kitchen-type scenario. They had about five minutes to do a given number of tasks. Men had trouble while the women soared.
Personally, I think men are able to focus much more accutely on ONE thing and apply it to their task, while women are thinking about many other things which affect the ability to completely think through an answer. Given that an IQ test is a measure of that type of thinking... men excel. (If one is inclined to apply sexism to it - who created the IQ test?)
Women and men are also shown to think differently about things. Women may see a variety of ways to solve a problem, while a man focuses on one way as the right way. Reflected in relationships too.
Granted, this is all a big generalization - my disclaimer is that of course not all men are this way, not all women are this way. Everyone is individual and such, and given that, there isn't a reason you can't work to make yourself able to multitask, or able to focus, or able to be more intelligent by going to college, or... well, anything you want to say to make the stereotyped generalization untrue for yourself. ;)

Intelligence is a complex concept comprised of many different attributes. There is no precise way to to completely define it.
One recent study published indicated that men are 3.6 points higher in IQ. This figure is probably statistically meaningless.

I'm generally skeptical of studies on intelligence. it is still a mystery to researchers. Still, I have seen credible studies that men are better at visualizing/rotating 3D shapes and may explain why there are more male engineers.
I really don't know. Experience and common sterotypes do tell me that women are better intuitively with children in primary education, liberal arts, and biology/life science. Also, in my experience in education, women do sudy harder as well, but I can't conclude that necessarily means they HAVE to study harder.

Depends on what area you are studying. I have seen grown intelligent men who cant do a load of laundry or bake a cake does this mean women are smarter in this area or smarter than men in general? We all have our areas of expertise so i think you are wrong. Nothing personal. Peace.
