According to the French it is - but hey, They're French - who cares what they think?!! I don't think it is where I live. The stores stock up plenty of candy, tons of decorations, every kind of costume you can imagine. I get catalogs in the mail months in advance with anything you could want for a great fright! We have Halloween Express stores that open in the city just for the season. Our local amusement parks stay open through Halloween & have Fear Fest & Howl O Scream for 6 or 7 weeks!
We had more trick or treaters this year than in the past & ran out of candy!! So NO, it's not a dying holiday - people still celebrate it & love it!!!!!

I believe the Halloween is a day for kids to dress up for fun and to have a good time with other childreh. I do not feel that Halloween is a holiday for adults and it seems to be that as I get older as an adult, Halloween becomes less popular.

A 5 billion dollar industry? Not likely!

However trick-or-treating maybe dying thanks to scared soccer moms and fundamentalists.

As for grown-ups, Halloween is a favorite theme of clubs and bars with lots of halloween costume contests.

I think it is evolving. Less and less kids trick-or-treat. More people decorate their homes. Is it just me or did we actually trick-or treat at dark. Now sometimes it starts at 3:00. Most parents are not even home by then, much less have time to get their kid in costume. There are more 'safe' events where it is a party that discourages kids from going out trick-or-treating.

I believe it is because christmas has taken over after the summer holidays so thanksgiving is also in danger of being forgotten, but not by me because I am always looking for a good reason to celebrate!!!

Although, I don't care for it personally, it seems to be a holiday that is really not a big deal; all the kids in my neighborhood stayed in last night.

yeah. when you stop going door to door only to go trick or treat at the mall or local grocery store I say yes. But I think we should do somethign about it before it is too late.
