probably only people who have experience sewing for babies should answer this please. If you have seen this fabric for sale please say so. If you haven't seen it, please do not reply, OK ?

I know Joann fabrics sells sleepwear fabrics. They are treated with chemicals though ;-(~

I like the more natural fibers, cotton, wool, hemp etc. If you make the jammies snug, they don't need to be flame resistant.
Also if you co-sleep you have a lot more choices, from flannels to stretch terrycloth.

If the baby sleeps alone, I wouldn't use cheap fleece because it is not normally rated for infant sleepwear. It is polyester and can melt if exposed to flame.

Of course, all this advice is from a woman that bought two yards of pajama satin for pajamas for my 8 year-old. She is now 10.5 and still no jammies!-)

I would recommend like the other person that you look at the pattern to determine how much to buy. Also, I would ask the fabric store employees where the sleepwear fabric is. Find one that is nonflammable. I would not suggest fleece. If you want to use fleece, make the baby a nice blanket!

When you buy a pattern it will tell you how much fabric you need for what size you are making the outfit!
As for what kind of material for sleepwear, what about fleece? Its warm and cozy!!!
Walmart has it for cheap too!

sleepware fabric is marked on the bolt. ask at your local fabric store and they can point it out to you.
