Those that could take control and establish a viable product in the new would become wealthy BEYOND their dreams.
Religion as always was a pretext and tool to manipulate the stupid.
BTW: Fort Raleigh is the location of the first English settlement in North America in 1585 decades before Jamestown.

The idea that they came for Freedom of Religion is a greatly accepted myth. They came to practice their own version of religion and forbid all others. They were prosecuted for their beliefs, yes, but they also prosecuted all others that did not follow their religion. This is how Colonial and Puritan America was run.
