DVD-r and DVD+r are just formats.
Most players support DVD-r over the DVD+r.
They used to make the pc drivers one or the other but now they come DVD-/+R. They read and burn both.
If you are wanting to burn DVD's to watch on your player I would recomend the DVD-R. If you are wanting the DVD's for just data storage either will work fine.
Check your home DVD player 's manual. There are models that also play both formats of DVD's.

I'm not sure what the technical difference is, but from what I've read on the web, its a matter of the way the information is encoded and decoded later for play. The word I read is that the war between +r and -r is about to come to a close with all the beg names opteing for +r. Mind you were talking DVD.. Conversly, I understand that most of the CD language is heading for -r. The thing to be concerned with isn't the difference between the two, but rather what will the players you have or are going to buy support. Most of the newer ones will support all versions but some of the older ones won't.

In my experience, dvd-r have always worked on any dvd player that I have used. The dvd+r could probably work only if your dvd supports that type of disk. Hope this helps. Rock.

Its not a simple issue. Dont feel bad.
Its like this, some recorders require -R and some require +R The media has a different architecture for recording.
Once the disc has been written it will usually play in any player. No matter what media you use, some players will have difficulty with different burned discs.

not a whole lot, except that, if you have a dvd-rw drive, you should use dvd-r discs, and dvd+r if you have a dvd+rw drive.
