So, I know how much salt it takes to raise water's boiling point by a degree (Celsius). However, I'm curious to know how much grams of sugar will be needed to raise water's boiling point. I know they are going to be different amounts but i'm not very clear why? Also, how many grams of sugar needed per degree?

The change in the boiling temperature depends on the number of molecules/particles that are dissolved in water and not their size.
Salt is NaCl and when dissolved in water it dissociates giving Na+ and Cl- (2 particles per "molecule"). Sugar is not an electrolyte (it does not dissociate into ions) and has a bigger molecular weight which means that its molecules are heavier and therefore the same grams of sucrose and salt will correspond to fewer sucrose particles than salt, leading to a lower increase in the boiling point.

The equation for the change in the boiling point is

dT= i*Kb*1000*g/(MW*G)

i= depends on the solute (substance that is disolved). For non-electrolytes like sugar it is 1. For strong electrolytes like NaCl it is equal (for dilut solutions) to the number of particles coming from the dissociation of the substance. For NaCl it is 2
Kb=0.513 for water
g= the grams of the dissolved substance (salt or sugar)
MW its molecular weight
G= the grams of water that you use.

For salt MW=58.5
Sugar is the dissacharide sucrose with MW=342

So for dT=1 and assuming 1000g of water (1 kg)
For NaCl
1=2*0.513 *1000*g / (58.5*1000) =>
g= 57 grams of salt

For sugar it would be
1=1*0.513 1000*g / (342*1000)=>
g= 666.7 grams of sugar !
Also sugar would start forming caramel if you boil such a concentrated solution for enough time.

Trade in those fruits for some vegetables and your sugar will go down. Instead of snacking on grapes and strawberries try carrots, mushrooms, celery, or whatever you like.
