I see that as the greates offense. I mean if someone does that to you, then all bets are off. Would you try to kill that person, or hurt them really bad?

No! absolute not! I don´t know much about American Law (you must be from there) but most international Law has a thing called proportion...for example, if somebody with no gun try to rob you, you can´t kill him with a bazooka ´cause you answered such higher than the danger that he could provoke on you...
What would you do?
If I could I would kick his a-s-s deeply, or if he´s stronger I would call my friends to help me on that but it would be pointless...
Expect for reaction, it always come...You should know who you´re fighting with...if he´s not involving in any gang...
If he´s not the wise thing to do is react immediately, he spits on you and you bang on his nose immediately...and go away...

NO I believe the approved response to that is to rip their tongue out. However if someone spits on the Hostess Twinkies your mom gave you with your lunch that probably is a capital crime requiring the death penalty.

That's a little drastic.
Yes it's disgusting but is it really putting your life at risk?
You really can't claim self defense for killing someone because they spit at you.

if someone spit on me, i would yell "that's so gross!" and call them a freak, becuz that's totally weird. killing that person is alittle dramatic, no? i would advise not doing so.

Well, most of the times, they do it acidentally. But if you are sure they did this on purpose, then deal with them accordingly.
