How about yesterday?

There is no such thing as too early. Thousands of people are looking for work, as well as thousands of employers looking to fill positions.

Get all your ducks in a row. Written performance evaluations, letters of recommendations in hand from both personal and professional references, college transcripts, complete job history with addresses/supervisor name.

Good luck...

When you knew for certain that you were moving you should have started looking for and applying for jobs. I would get started now. Unless you do something really rare the holiday season has started and universities and colleges everywhere will be letting students out to celebrate, they in turn go home and seek out seasonal work with the intent of quitting after the new year...plus if you are in the grown up world, companies are starting to pause on their hiring because they are near their budget or over it and want to wait for next year when they have more time and money to play with.

Put in as many applications as you can this week, it they are with corporations. I say this because alot of companies will put a freeze on hiring around mid Nov thru Dec. Think about it, why hire someone then pay them holiday or overtime pay. Corporations usually have ~7 company paid holidays, 3 of those fall in Dec., why pay someone who's only been there a couple of weeks for 1/2 of the yearly holidays when if you can hold off a month.

I guess it depends on what kind of work you intend to do in your new home state. If you are a Federal or State employee, you should already be working on transfer paperwork. If you are changing careers, you can go ahead and contact the State employment service and see what's out there. If you flip burgers, you can wait until you actually move.

You are moving with no job lined up first? Yikes. I suggest you begin now so you will hopefully have a job when you move.
