You do not need a college degree to write a children's book at all, however, an education is important and getting a degree in English (or whatever you're interested in) helps you in learning the craft and many academics have published books whether they are textbooks or fiction...poetry...etc. So if you are wondering if college will help you become a better writer the answer is yes. No matter what field of study you choose to com mitt to, writing is a part of all of them, but college is definitely not a requirement for becoming a successful author. All you need is a great story and work your hardest to get it published, every story has an audience!

You can drop out of sixth grade and be a children's author. There is no real required education for being an author, just make a good book and get it published.

If my information is correct, Madonna has at least one children's book out and is working on more. So, I'm going to say NO (or 0) years of college, just some money and a few connections in the publishing industry. If your books are actually good, I think all you need is to find someone who will publish them.

You don't need a college education to become a childrens book author! Anybody can write any kind of book, as long as it's good writing and proper use of grammer. If you don't have that, then you don't have yourself a successful book!
