You need to know the point-slope formula: (y1-y2) = m(x1-x2)

Say you choose (2,6) as (x1, y1) and (-3,1) as (x2, y2) -- you should get the equation 6-1 = m(2-(-3))

The next thing you need to do is just to solve for m, which should be 5/5=1

You plug m and either point into y=mx+b to solve for b, which should be 4.

The standard form of an equation is Ax+By=C. Just use the y=mx+b equation to switch it around so it's the correct form.

You should end up with -x+y=4.

First you need to find the slope of the line, which is 1 actually. Then find the y-intercept by plugging the slope into the equation y=mx+b. "m" is the slope. "b" is the y-intercept. So, plug one of the given points into the equation along with the slope. So...

y-coordinate = (slope)(x-coordinate) + (y-intercept)
6 = (1)(2)+b

6=2b

3=b
Therefore the equation of the line is...

y= (1)x + 3

We are not done, however. it still isn't in standard form.

Therefore you should move the x to the other side. to get...

y-x=3

when wrighting in standard form, the x value can never be negative, therefore you should multiply the whole equation by -1, to get...

x-y=-3

first find the slope which is y2-y1/x2-x1, which is 6-1/2--3, so 6-1/2+3, which is 5/5, than find the the y-intercept by subtracting 1 from both sides of (2, 6), so it would become (1, 5), than do that again, and the y-intercept it 4, so the equasion is y=x+4

remember the x, y axis, from the above when x=0, y=6 and when y=0, x=2 and therefore when x=2, the y=6.
Similarly, when x=-3, the y=1, and this two points that join into a straight line.
