I dont mean to offend anyone with the question Im about to ask, but I really need help with me final. I am to write a paper in which I take a side on. My topic is," Should Homosexuals be allowed to serve in the armed forces?" Please give me your input.

There are TONS of gays in the military. I have many friends who have served this country in a variety of capacities, from Navy special forces (thats right, a GAY SEAL!) to National Guard and JAG. I hate that people assume that "don't ask don't tell" means there are no queers in the military. There are so many - and its just absolutely wrong that they risk their lives every day, and cannot be open about something so minor in comparison.

The thing is, theres just no legitimate argument for why gays shouldn't be allowed to serve. Do our trigger fingers not work? Are we incapable of teamwork, dedication, or enduring hardship? The worst bigots in this capacity are those who HAVEN'T served. How dare they criticize anyone willing to do what our soldiers do, for any reason at all?

Of course...why not?....Homosexuals are as varied and as capable as everyone else...believe it or not we do have complete control over our sexual feelings and wouldn't be attacking any one in showers etc..(I always find it so humerous that as soon as you tell a straight man that you're gay...he assumes that you wanna have sex with him LOL---I don't want anybody who doesn't want me)....On a more cynical side I would say no don't let them in the military...don't allow governments to use them for pawns and slaughter them indiscriminately...
I think that homosexuals deserve equality and if that means serving in the armed forces so be it....we are as capable as anybody else of doing a job...a nasty job or not.

Try writing what you truly feel about the topic. If you think they should, write that. If you think that they shouldn't, write that. This way, your paper will be stronger since it'll be obvious in your writing that you're passionate about your subject, which is a major aspect of persuasive writing. Google News is a good source for articles to get facts to support your opinion. Good luck!

yes they should. homosexuality has been in the service since the beginning of time. look at the Greek army's. they kicked butt.
what better fighting group of men could you get. a group of men who love men. that is unity. no division there.
