You one of the many who run everything but the kitchen sink when you boot up? A PC can only run so much depending on how much ram you have! Turn off half a dozen messengers and 4 of those file sharing programs!

Is your computer making noises like a blowing noise. if so its the fan. this means it is over heated. when computers over heat they will freeze. Also, you computer may not be frozen. it might just be very slow. Depending on how much stuff you have stored on your computer, memory could be a factor. When you fill up your memory by installing games and saving documents/pictures/music, the computer will usually run slower. What year is your computer? older computers cannot support new games/programs very well. If you have a computer that was made in the mid 90s dont run window's XP on it, the newest program that your computer will support will be windows 98. If you have the sims 2, that will freeze your computer often if you dont have the right patches for the game.....it depends on several factors why your computer freezes. I reccomend calling dell if you still cannot find out whats wrong. they will walk you through whats going on and maybe you could convince them to take a look, but more than likely, they will not

Internet Explorer freezes, shuts down without warning, or the computer reboots.

This problem is often caused by out-of-date video drivers. Go to the Web site run by the manufacturer of your video card and download, then install, the latest (non-beta) drivers for your video card.

Alternatively, you can try the following:

1.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

2.
Click Display (in classic view of Windows XP), click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced.

3.
Click the Performance or Troubleshooting tab (depending on your operating system), and then reduce hardware acceleration a notch at a time until your system stabilizes.

It may be time to call the dell help centre. I had a defective computer and in the end they replaced it. Before replacing the computer they walked me through the process of checking the maching over the phone. They have great customer service.

Make sure that your CPU fan is working, it should run 100% of the time. Has the HDD been making noise? It could be ready to crash. Have you ran all of the diagnostics in "Safe Mode"?? Scan for viruses, run AVG Antivirus, Spy-bot Search & Destroy, Ad-Aware, and Windows Defender in "Safe Mode" also.
