He was docked 50 driver points, 50 owner points, fined $15,000, & is now on probation. What do you think of this penalty? Do you think it is too harsh, not harsh enough, or just right?
I'm just wondering what people think about it........

I think they should have fined him just 25 driver points and 25 owner points. I do think that 50 points is a little harsh but he did the crime so he's gotta pay for it.
He blantaly cheated and when they interviewed him afterwards he acted as if he didn't even know what they were talking about. He did that to get the lucky dog and as a result he wound up with a top 10 finish that IMO he didn't deserve. He cost a Chase contender major points by doing that. Plus, another driver could have gotten hurt from him throwing that roll bar padding onto the track.
Robby doesn't have the best reputation to begin with and he just added to it.
And for those who say that Nascar doesn't punish Dale Jr...you need to stop lying. Nascar docked him points last year when he spun out to bring a caution, Jr flat out admitted that he did that. Then in 2004 they docked him points for cursing in Victory Lane!

Someone got caught doing something similar last year (was it Reed Sorenson?) and I don't remember what punishment he got. I thought Junior only got docked 25 pts when he spun out to cause a caution, but I could be wrong. If Gordon did throw something out of the car, he was endangered a lot of drivers. It is a lot of points and money, but NASCAR has been warning that penalties were getting stronger to get their message across. Sad thing is that it cost Jeff Burton a lot more and he didn't do anything. So I'd say it was about right.
(If it had been the other Gordon, there would have been no points or fine :)

I think that the penalty is goog enough, I mean no matter what happens their is still going to be people who want to cause cautions in order to save thier car from going a lap or more down. I think last year someone threw a glove out the window, and NASCAR thougth this is going to be easy just check all the drivers and see which one is missing a glove and then penalize that driver, well it turns out that when NASCAR checked all the drivers had their gloves, so they could penalize anyone and thier was no evidence on who threw the glove out the window, so I guess someone had a third glove in their car. I think they do it because they think they have a great car but don't want to go down a lap but if they were lapping a car and they were the leader doing it and someone threw the caution out they would be mad so I think its just plain stupid.

That's pretty easy going on someone who may have affected the entire outcome of the Chase with his actions. Burton was the one who most notibly short-pitted, but Harvick did as well and could have gained a few points from that strategy, despite being nestled near the back. I'd say that Gordon cost Burton something like 20 points and Harvick 12, which would tighten the Chase up more.
NASCAR should park Robbie Gordon, because he has no business being on a racetrack. Never has, never will. He's the reason RCR was in decline so long, and isn't even that good outside of road courses.

It was about right in my opinion. The drivers and teams have received warnings for quite some time about these types of things. Since the verbal warnings were not enough, he must be punished.
Should somebody else come along and do the same thing, I would expect harsher penalties yet. Something has to get these guys attention.

If it had been a chase driver do you think NASCAR would have fined them 50 points like they did Robby?? NO.... So No its not a fair penallty.... Reed Sorenson did the same thing earlier in the year and was placed at the end of the longest line.... thats a HUGE difference between that and 50 points and $15K..... there is my $.02 worth!

What Robby did was basically cheating. He did something that was a benefit to him and no one else in an unfair manner. Pure and simple. Besides, do 50 point really make that much of a difference to a driver of Mr. Robbie Gordon's caliber? I think not.

Its tough to say man. Nascar needs to find a policy and stick with it. Obviously he manipulated the entire race to give himself a better finish. He hurt Burton pretty bad there. I think the driver should be fined only with points, like 300 or something. That would certainly ruin your driving year.. (unless youre Jimmie Johnson)

I'm a little disappointed. He was very obvious for NBC to get on film, he doesn't have a great reputation to began with. I'm glad you asked this question I was wondering. I was glad to see that nascar ruled on this cause I thought he was going to get away w/it. I would have liked to see r.gordon have had received more severe consequences. he effected the whole outcome of the race. I think a more harsh penalty would have made him think twice. with this penalty he'll just do it again
