Well, there are two types of basic producers. The ones who provide money and get a producer credit and those who actually do work. Producing of the latter is a lot of work.

They do everything. They are the ones who get everything together, they make sure things are on time, etc. Everything short of the actual shooting is done by them.

the producers just give money and help promote it... if you're the executive producer... you get to have the final say in how the movie looks cause you provided the money... you could not show it if you wanted to... the eecutive producer has all the power in how the final cut will look... that's why on dvd there is always a director's cut
