It could be eye strain. Are you getting enough sleep? If you are studying, or reading, or staring at a computer monitor or TV for long hours, your eyes can become strained and this is nature's way of telling you to give it a rest. Try doing something else for a while, take a nap, massage your muscles very gently under your eye. Get lots of rest.

I get that off and on. Sometimes it's the area under my eye; though, more often it's my eyelid. From experience and research, I would say that it is usually caused by stress. Stress, even when you are unaware of it, can manifest itself in strange ways. Too much caffine can also be a contributing factor.

When you say it's been twitching for a week, is that non-stop or every once in a while? If it's really often or non-stop, it may be wise to see a doctor. There may be nothing wrong, but that assurance by itself might help.

It is more than likely stress or eye strain. However, have you had any dental work done lately or is there a chance that you may have some dental problems? I know that sounds weird, but I had a twitch like that and just happened to go to the dentist. He said that I had a cavity that needed to be filled and that was what was causing the twitch. I guess it had something to do with the nerves in the face and exposure due to the cavity. Strange but true!

It's probably stress and will go away on it's own. Call your doctor if it persists for another week. I have known someone to have a benign tumor pushing on a facial nerve and that caused an almost constant twitch of the same eye. Doubt it's that, it's too rare. Stress reduction!

My only twitches if I'm tired or under a lot of stress. If something like that is the case then there's nothing a doctor can do. If you can find no good reason for it then you might want to try a doctor.

Are you under ant stress or nervous about something? It could just be a "nervous twitch". I had a similar problem when I was about to fly alone for the very first time....my upper lip would twitch from time to time for about two weeks before I left. It never happened again once returned home.

Involuntary muscle spasms like that could be due to stress. But since you say it's been twitching for a week, I would at least call your doctor and see what they say.

A small muscle twitch (or tick) is not abnormal, however it can signify excessive stress or an underlying neurological problem. If it bothers you, going to the doctor may help...at least to find the cause.

I had the same thing and went to eye doctor. It was eye strain - I even had a bump on the bottom of my eyelid.

Problem was my computer monitor (it was too small). Check that your monitor is ergonomic, etc. Also see if eyesight is ok.

It's always good to see an eye doctor.

You are probably stressed and fatigued. I used to get that when I was working really brutal shifts in the military and driving buses, or studying and working too much at school.

To cure it, get more sleep. Get serious about relaxing: get some massage therapy or acupuncture, or similar relaxation therapy to help you loosen up and relieve muscle tension. And believe it or not, it will go away. If it pops up in the future, you'll know you need to throttle back a bit.
