The difference between men and women comes down to 3 things, body fat percentage, muscle mass and the ability to build muscle..
This does not apply to all people, but this is a general statement.
Body Fat - Women tend to have a higher body fat percentage, for physiological reasons related to womens health in general. The more fat you carry the less efficent your body can perform.
Muscle Mass - Men tend to have more this has is because men can physically build muscle easier then women. The reason for this is because men have testosterone which helps aid in the buidling of muscle mass. Women have some testosterone but a far, far, far smaller amount so they are going to build less muscle mass.
If you have more muscle mass, less body fat and your body runs more efficently, you are going to perform better.
Mind you there are a TON of women athletes out there that will destory 99% of most male athletes on the planet. The statements above apply mostly to elite athletes.

Men are stronger and more athletic and women are the lesser of all these.
Sorry but it's the simple truth.
