Unllike most other sports, hockey players can only play for about 2 minutes straight before getting EXTREMELY tired. Changing players often has to be done "on the fly" if there has not been a stoppage in play for a while and can be tricky -- it can lead to a defensive error or a penalty for too many men on the ice. A goal however, is a stoppage in play and an opportunity to get fresh legs out there!

for hockey sitting on the bench isn't a bad thing. It's an exhausting sports and you need a lot of rest. In fact, many shifts (the time that a player gets off the bench, plays and gets back onto the bench) last about a minute.

Most likely the coach of the player who has scored the goal feels it is the right time for a line change. An average shift for a hockey player is only 45 seconds and most goals aren't scored at the beginning of shifts, therefore it is an appropriate time to get the next line out there.

That doesnt happen all the time. Most of the time i see eric staal score and right after his goal he is at the face off. Some players may want to take a rest. Or the coach may want to put a different line up.

They're not benched. It's just they need to get some rest before going out there and scoring more goals.

Most shifts last 30-45 seconds, so they're gonna need some water or rest after an offensive play which will have probably tired them.

Drawr is in part genuine, it incredibly is all approximately ice shift situations. It concerns once you score the objective in terms of the time which you have been on the ice. in case you score a objective after being on the ice for 5 seconds you will stay on the ice. in case you have been on the ice for 30-40 5+ seconds you're literally coming off the ice. in case you have been on for 20 seconds you're in all probability coming off the ice so your shift would not get prolonged to 60+ seconds. It additionally concerns what's going on with the opposing team, in the event that they placed on sparkling gamers or a extra helpful line the team who in basic terms scored is in all probability going to stay with in shape. Matching lines in hockey is a great attitude, in the journey that your 4th line rankings against a fellow 4th line. the coach of the team who have been given scored on is going to take off his 4th line and the coach of the team that in basic terms scored is going to stay with in shape. In some situations they won't even get returned on the ice.
