There should always be a separation of church and state. Religion should not dictate the laws made for all people because not all people are religious. I am not asking the Catholic Church to marry us if they do not believe in it. They won't marry anyone but Catholics and you must convert to be married there. So be it. I don't mind. I can find someone else to marry me and my partner of 26 years. It's a matter of equal rights. I want to take care of her as any couple would --health benefits, choice in each other's financial/personal affairs, tax benefits and other things married couples enjoy. I don't think it's too much to ask our government. It falls under the equal rights section of our Constitution. End of story.

I believe that any 2 consenting (unrelated) adults who love each other and are committed to each other should be allowed the same legal rights and benefits of marriage. It should never matter what gender, race, religion or culture they are. the government has no business dictating who we love and choose to spend our lives with!

i think we should live and let live. and i think the person who preforms the marriage should have a choice if they want to do it or not i my self am a Reverend High Priestess and because this issue really isn't to clear in the bible on gay marriage there are just topics on being gay because during that time they had to populate the earth and if you were gay that wasn't gonna happen. but any way being a HP i wouldn't feel right preforming the ceremony because i wouldn't want to offend god. but I'm not saying I'm against it like i said i think we should live and let live.

It should be allowed. Marriage is a legal right... and we're legal citizens who would probably do a better job at the whole marriage thing than straights did... they screwed it into the ground... and under the US government, we're entitled to equal rights, so why does that not include marriage?

As long as the government provides benefits to people who are married, it doesn't seem legal for them to deny marriage to certain couples.

This will always be a problem, unfortuantely we cannot convince close minded people to be more open minded because well...they are close minded! Love is love. There aren't exceptions for straight people.
