i have a bt home hub and i know for a fact it is not nessecary to install the software provided
the only reason for the supplied disc is for users who want to use a usb connection, but if you are using ethernet(which is the recommended connection)no software and drivers are required
depending on your system memory ,its a good chamce that the norton software is the main cause of your p.c,s speed problem as all norton(and mcafee)anti virus are terrible for draining system resources
if you want to uninstall this try going to add/remove programs first and clicking remove on the named program, but some users have problems removing this program and there is a tool avalible from the norton website to uninstall their software
a good replacement anti-virus program is avast4.7(http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html),this is a free anti-virus and is well capable of protecting any home p.c from all known viruses, trojans, and worms
as for your bt internet software this is not required unless you want to use the sogtware that comes with it or you want a usb connection
i hope this helps

I think the upgrades great, deIfrag your computer. I would keep your Norton software its professional and your paying for it. I stoped the restore points very early on in the setup on my laptop because I thought it would slow down the computer.
