OH YEAH! My husband and I saved a piece of our wedding cake in the freezer, that was to be eaten on our first anniversary. Remembering how great it was we both took a huge bite and spit it out after a few chews...it had very little taste at all, and was to say the least...gross.

I've had cake lose its taste many times. If it's cut and left sitting out for just a few hours and not wrapped in saran wrap or an airtight container, then it will start to dry out and lose flavor.
Some cakes don't have any flavor to begin with.

I didn't see either of them taste any cake. One of the had a piece of pizza from the blender and just sniffed at it. What was in the Bathtub? It looked like a baby Croc.

Of course, anything can lose its taste after awhile. Cakes tend to get stale.

If it's left out it becomes stale but it still has flavor- usually tastes similar to a rock. *this question is so random & so is my answer!*
