Women only shave their bodies in certain places such as the armpits and legs because it is considered feminine to do so. Throughout history our notions of what is masculine and feminine have been ever changing. Women have not always shaved at all or in those spots. People, both men and women, have hair all over their bodies except for 3 locations--plams of the hands, bottoms of the feet and the lips. Hair serves a protective pupose on the body.

i dont shave my legs cause i never had hair grow on my legs dont know how thats possible but its true. I do have some arm hair though but i leave it their during the winter it helps keep me warm. I really never read in a book anywhere that said woman had to shave but some women prefer to wax their bikini line and shave under their arms during the summer to keep from being sweaty and funky. It also looks better when wearing shirts that have arms out.

You don't have to shave it. I for one like armpit hair, and Italians have a taste for hairy legs, I believe. :)

You don't HAVE to shave. Women didn't start shaving their legs until the 1940s, and shaving the armpit came shortly after. Just don't do it - the world won't end.

Because hair removal is a relatively new trend. In the cold hair raises to form pockets of warm air to keep close to your skin so that you can maintain your core temperature and homeostasis. Hair removal is purely because it's no longer necessary to have it because of modern technology, it's uncomfortable, it's unattractive.

because we are suppose to have them...it only became popular to shave when hem lines on dresses started to rise and back in teh 30's when sleevless dresss became popular and arm pit hair was being shown. we have it for the same reason men do...hold sweat and odor (for pharmones), to keep us warm...
