It could be so many different things; you should live with any of that kind of unnatural pain that long. Get it checked out at your doc's or a clinic if you don't have a regular physician.
i had a pain similar to what you are describing, and one night it finally got so bad, i could barely breathe at all the pain got so intense. Mine turned out to be a Hiatal hernia, which, basically is a hole in your stomach leading into the esophagus ( the tube that you swallow your food down )> so see, it was creating major hurt quit aways from where the problem was.
It could be heartburn, muscle spasm, gas, or a problem with your heart ( is there any pain in your left arm or tingling?)
Best not to wait much longer as it has been bothering you for weeks now,,,,,,,,,Good Luck !!!!!!!!!!!

You may just have a muscle strain. Think back on what you might've done to cause it (sports, weightlifting, lifting something heavy at work, etc.). Try some gentle stretching every day. Try to find a particular stretch that affects the area where you feel the pain. If the stretching helps, then tt is just a muscle, and nothing internal.

Best to seek medical attention. Does it hurt to inhale when you bend over? It could be as simple as inflammation of the connective tissues which you can just take anti-inflammatories. Or it could be a pneumothorax aka lung collapse. I had chest pain once and got told that I had an inflammation and needed anti-inflammatories. About 6 months later, same pain came back so I went back to the doctor's office (different doctor this time) and told him I need anti-inflammatories. Just to be sure, he sent me for x-rays and we discovered that my left lung had 100% collapsed. Then the chest tubes, surgeries, etc. started - long long story.

If you have to clutch your chest when you breathe because it hurts, if you are having difficulties inhaling, hurts to breathe when you bend over, combined with shoulder pain...haul your butt to the doc ASAP.

I once went to the emergency room with chest pains and to make a long story short, it turned out to be that the cartilage in my chest was inflamed and the ER docs told me that if I get that again to take Advil
